Christmas in Review

Quentin and I had a wonderful Christmas this year. We spent time with one another and both sides of our families, and didn't even get too stressed! On Christmas Eve we visited Quentin's grandmother and brought her a basket of Christmas goodies for herself and items she could set out for her guests to munch on as they came in and out. Later that evening we spent time with his parents and our nieces and received our traditional Christmas Eve pajamas from his parents. After that, we went to our family Christmas Eve service at church and had such a fun time watching the kids sing their Christmas songs. It was so cute. On Christmas Eve night, Quentin and I always decorate sugar cookies to share with our families on Christmas day. It's kind of a tradition my parents started with my brother and I when we were little, and it's fun to have those new traditions as a couple. Another tradition we have is exchanging Christmas ornaments with each other on Christmas Eve. We watched Christmas movies and decorated cookies until it was time for bed.

On Christmas morning we exchanged our gifts together, just the two of us, in our living room. I cherish Christmas morning with Quentin. It is nice being just the two of us and watching one another open the gifts we picked out. Quentin got me a vanilla Marmot jacket I had been eying from Dick's Sporting Goods, Jessica Simpson sunglasses, and a new case for my iPhone. I got him a couple of new shirts and ties for work, a new wallet, and Yves Saint Laurent cologne.

After exchanging our gifts, we make another quick trip to Quentin's parents' house to give them their gifts and watch our nieces open up their gifts from us. This year we got the girls the cutest pink sparkly snow boots that I am certain they loved. They put them on as soon as they opened them. So cute!

We then headed to my parents' house for Christmas lunch and more gift exchanging. Finally, we went to see a Christmas light display in Scott City, MO just outside of Cape Girardeau. The residential house decks out their whole house and yard in Christmas lights and viewers tune their radios to an AM station they have Christmas music playing on and the lights dance and flicker to the music. It is so magical. I never get tired of it.

All in all, we had a fantastic Christmas. My favorite things this year were our Christmas Eve service at church and watching our loved ones open up the gifts we had put so much thought into. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got to spend it with your loved ones too.
